The SimilarWeb Digital Insights Team looked at web traffic to Online Department Stores to assess how they performed over the past year since Q4 2014. We compared and analyzed shopping habits and marketing strategies for leading US retailers — Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Zappos, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
In the fourth quarter of 2014, both paid and organic searches for consumer product brand names ranked the highest — 3 out of 10 organic search terms, and 9 out of 10 paid search terms were for brands. The spike is likely the result of consumers searching for gift ideas over the holiday season.
