REPORT: The State of Mobile Web – UK 2015

The world has gone mobile and there is no turning back. Apps constitute an important share of online traffic, but when a website or an entire industry receives more than 50% of its visits from mobile web (i.e., non-app) visits, this represents a sea of change. Welcome to the United Kingdom.


What do pet, home and garden, and beauty websites have in common here? Their wealth of images entice people to visit with their mobile devices, particularly when they are on the go. Not surprisingly, gambling and adult industry websites also entice UK residents to be highly engaged on their smartphones and tablets.




Ranked by the number of visits, the country’s top 10 shopping websites secured the majority of their traffic — between 57% and 76% — from mobiles last year. Social networks like Facebook and Twitter also received billions in browser-generated  visits from smartphones and tablets.
