SimilarWeb, the leader in digital measurement, has just released their July App Index for paid Android apps. SimilarWeb’s app index is a ranking of apps within a market by the volume of usage. The proprietary ranking is calculated from the percentage of phones that have the app installed, the number of sessions per user, and average session duration.
This week, India was the country analyzed for top free Android apps in July. Continuing with the trend from previous months, Whatsapp is still the top most used free app in India, while Facebook holds firm at second place. The rest of the apps are a mix of social and communication apps.
The majority of the apps remained in the same position from the previous month, illustrating the stability (and ultimately, popularity) of these top free apps. Only Facebook Messenger and Gmail switched places from June’s top free apps, with Gmail moving down the list to last position. The ever-popular Clean Master (Boost & AppLock) is still the top used app optimizer, appearing on top free apps lists for other countries as well.
