SimilarWeb’s app index is a ranking of apps within a market by the volume of usage. The proprietary ranking is calculated from the percentage of phones that have the app installed, the number of sessions per user, and average session duration.
The following list are the top paid Android apps in America for August. There is some deviation from the previous month’s top used apps list, particularly in the apps ranked 6-10.

Once again Minecraft: Pocket Edition tops the list, holding firm to first place. The popular paid gaming app is the most used paid app for Android in America. The rest of the list is saturated with paid personalization apps and one other paid game – Geometry Dash. The well-received Pocket Casts app is still amongst the top ten, although it has fallen two rank places in the past two months. Meanwhile, the increasingly popular app for social media forum reddit continues to climb the ranks. reddit is fun golden platinum now ranks in at #7. Just two months ago – in June – the app was positioned at 14th place. With the surging popularity of the app it’s likely to reason the app will remain a most used app on the top ten list.
