The demand for the product, and high keyword ranking of other sneaker brands (\u201cConverse,\u201d ranked 10, and \u201cVans,\u201d 15) shows online shoppers&#8217; eagerness to get outdoors and active (or, at least look fashionable doing so).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/website\/office.co.uk\/\">Office.co.uk<\/a> commands the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/marketing\/marketing-strategy\/traffic-share\/\">traffic share<\/a> for \u201cshoes,\u201d the fourth trending keyword. If a user searches for \u201csandals\u201d or \u201chigh heels\u201d you can also suggest sneakers on these other shoe product pages.<\/li>\n<li><b>Strategically choosing related search terms: <\/b>While it may be difficult to compete for \u201csneaker\u201d, related less competitive but in-demand keywords can be integrated into product descriptions. This includes \u201cwhite trainers,\u201d which is among the top 50 trending terms, ranked higher than &#8220;heels&#8221; which just makes the top 100, and sandals (platform sandals rank just over 100).<\/li>\n<li><b>Selective discounts:<\/b> As a retailer, you may want to hold off on discounting sneakers and trending sneaker brands due to trending searches. Even if you\u2019re holding a storewide sale, for instance, Nike\u2019s Airforce 1s can be excluded from discounts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. Summer dresses are mid-in<\/h3>\n<p>Consumers are searching for summer dresses\u2013 half of the top 10 trending keywords relate to warm-weather dresses or the fashion brands that specialize in them. As the third trending keyword \u201csummer dresses,\u201d ranked higher than simply \u201cdresses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiss Selfridge\u201d and \u201cLipsy,\u201d brands that have broad dress selection and feminine prints, rank sixth and eighth in keyword searches.<\/p>\n<h4>Hemline: \u201cmidi\u201d ranks highest<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cMidi\u201d length is in. The term, which applies to lengths from two inches below the knees to just above the ankle, made the top 25 list twice with \u201cmidi skirt,\u201d ranked 19, and \u201cmidi dress,\u201d ranked 23. However, \u201cmini\u201d and \u201cmaxi\u201d related terms do not make the list at all.<\/p>\n<p>The popularity of \u201cmidi\u201d searches ties to theories relating to the stock market and consumer confidence. According to Wharton Business School Professor George Taylor\u2019s 1920s <a href=\"https:\/\/sewguide.com\/skirt-length\/#:~:text=George%20Taylor%20in%201926%20came,hence%20raised%20their%20skirt%20hemlines.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hemline theory<\/a>, the \u201cshorter the hemline, the stronger the economy.\u201d (in a nutshell: the idea is that women need to afford stockings to wear shorter hemlines).<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the foundations of this theory, \u201cmidi,\u201d an in-between length, throws it all off. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/investor\/stock-market\/\">stock market <\/a>has been unpredictable in the COVID-19 era, so it may be difficult to take a firm mini\/maxi stance. If and when the markets become more predictable, retailers may want to rethink hem length.<\/p>\n<h3>3 tips for retailers<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Highlight dresses: <\/b>Particularly if you sell a variety of apparel, ensure that dresses, specifically summer dresses, are highlighted on your store\u2019s landing page. Also, make sure that the landing page(s) for your dress category features summer dresses (midi length if you carry that style) to reflect current consumer trends.<\/li>\n<li><b>Integrate \u201csummer dress\u201d:<\/b> Selling a lightweight or summery dress? Make sure the specific keyword \u201csummer dress\u201d is added to the product description. As mentioned, consumers have been searching for summer dresses more than just dresses this spring.<\/li>\n<li><b>Reflect midi:<\/b> If you carry \u201cmidi\u201d length, make sure your product descriptions reflect that length to tap into more organic traffic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>3. Events (and appropriate attire) are back<\/h3>\n<p>With restrictions easing, consumers are eager to plan and attend formal events. Three of the top 20 trending keywords are events-related including \u201cbridesmaid dresses,\u201d ranked seven, \u201cprom dresses\u201d ranked 18, and \u201cwedding guest dresses,\u201d ranked 20.<\/p>\n<p>Retailers that specialize in formal dresses are capitalizing on related searches. For instance, over the last three months, organic traffic spiked dramatically to Chichi Clothing&#8217;s bridesmaid dress landing page. Therefore, Chichi should cultivate a community, including building a strong and engaging mailing list, to ensure repeat purchases.<\/p>\n<h3>2 tips for retailers<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Highlight special occasion attire: <\/b>We expect search volume for event-related keywords to increase further as we come out of pandemic restrictions. Therefore, you should optimize and structure your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/top-websites\/e-commerce-and-shopping\/\">eCommerce website<\/a> with relevant keywords and highlight related products.<\/li>\n<li><b>Plan \u201cspecial\u201d inventory: <\/b>Plan inventory for the remainder of the year that is suited for special occasions and that your product description reflects these special events. This may include formal wear for bar and bat mitzvahs, mother of the bride, and holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year&#8217;s Eve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Get fresh consumer insights<\/h2>\n<p>Using data from Similarweb platform, we analyzed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/marketing\/seo\/top-keywords\/\">the most searched keywords<\/a> in early spring \u201821 (March &#8211; April), for the U.K. fashion and apparel industry.
