Here are some insights on the leaders of the pack:<\/p>\n<h2>1. PetSafe monetizes on top organic keyword<\/h2>\n<p>Revenue growth YoY for PetSafe, which describes itself as \u201cthe world\u2019s leader in containment, training, and lifestyle solutions\u201d exceeded other pet supply brands. We attribute this gain to PetSafe winning the most brand share for \u201clitter box,\u201d which ranks among the category&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/marketing\/seo\/top-keywords\/\">top 10 keywords<\/a> two years in a row. Pricing, however, has increased \u2013 the average unit price of PetSafe&#8217;s litter box jumped $4.00 from $37.67 to $41.67 in just one year.<\/p>\n<p>Cat owners replace litter boxes yearly (roughly), therefore, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/ecommerce\/amazon-insights\/customer-loyalty-tips\/\">customer loyalty<\/a> (less than 25% are returning), is very much below the 68.6% category average (for April 2021) and less than half that of the other top five pet supply brands.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Fresh Step, ranked second, could profit from pairing up with PetSafe<\/h2>\n<p>If <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/website\/petsafe.net\/\">PetSafe<\/a>, which is ranked number one, can supply cats\u2019 litter boxes, Fresh Step, number two, can fill them.<\/p>\n<p>Owned by Clorox, Fresh Step has the second-highest revenue growth YoY. Since its products are complementary and viewed by a similar customer base as PetSafe, the two brands can team up. From January 2020 &#8211; April 2021 7.5\u20138% of shoppers for cat litter and housebreaking supplies viewed the others\u2019 brands within the same month.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_72332\" style=\"width: 1210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72332\" class=\"wp-image-72332 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Emilyf-SW-Blog-Pro-Screenshot-Rebrand-5.png\" alt=\"Amazon Pet Supplies: Cross-Shopping\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Emilyf-SW-Blog-Pro-Screenshot-Rebrand-5.png 1200w, https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Emilyf-SW-Blog-Pro-Screenshot-Rebrand-5-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Emilyf-SW-Blog-Pro-Screenshot-Rebrand-5-1024x597.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Emilyf-SW-Blog-Pro-Screenshot-Rebrand-5-768x448.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-72332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Just over 8% of Fresh Step shoppers also viewed PetSafe products within the same month (Amazon&#8217;s Cats &#8211; Litter &amp; Housebreaking Supplies, Retail Intelligence)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Consumers need to purchase litter on a regular basis to care for their cats. Over the past six months (November 2020\u2013April 2021), nearly 53% of Fresh Step customers return \u2013 more than double that of PetSafe. If the two companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/ecommerce\/amazon-insights\/create-amazon-bundles\/\">bundle their products<\/a>, PetSafe\u2019s strong brand share for litter boxes can help hook consumers on Fresh Step&#8217;s litter, which they&#8217;ll purchase litter regularly.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Temptations, Purina Friskies, and Hill\u2019s Science Diet: Subscribe &amp; Save savvy<\/h2>\n<p>At three-fifths, pet food has the highest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.similarweb.com\/blog\/ecommerce\/amazon-insights\/subscribe-save\/\">Subscribe &amp; Save<\/a> (SnS) rate across all of Amazon. Three of the top five brands (Temptations, Purina Friskies, and Hill\u2019s Science Diet) specialize in pet food. Given the high customer loyalty metrics (more than 50% for all), we suspect that SnS contributes to a significant revenue share for these top brands.
