The game can be started by randomly choosing a player to be the first to take the turn or by a toss. In a single turn, a player can either make a move or do a capture, but not both. A player can only move one of its pawns to the one-step-ahead position while considering the lines as paths toward an empty spot. If a player wants to capture (Eat) the opponent’s bead, he/she can do it if there is a vacant point/position just beyond the opponent’s bead in the line. For this purpose, the player’s bead must be adjacent to the opponent’s guti. The leap should be in a straight line while following the lines on the board. The captured bead is removed from the board. This progress continues and players take turns until one player captures all the opponent's beads. The player who does this wins the 12 bead game.
