New: Our Rank Tracker Reports Search Rankings for the Top 30 Positions

We’re making important updates to how Rank Tracker reports search rankings.
Following Google’s recent change limiting access to deeper search results (the &num=100 parameter), many SEO tools across the industry experienced inconsistencies in ranking data beyond the first page.
After research and testing, we’ve updated our Rank Tracker methodology to ensure a more stable, sustainable, and accurate reporting experience that reflects where true search visibility occurs – the top 30 positions.
This means you can expect:
- More stable and reliable ranking data across tracked keywords
- Accurate visibility insights focused on the results that drive meaningful traffic
This article outlines everything that’s changing, what will remain the same, and what steps (if any) you may need to take.
Overview of Changes
To align with Google’s updated result structure, Rank Tracker will now report up to the top 30 results per keyword.
All results previously recorded between positions 31–100 will now be categorized as position 31. This update applies across all historical data, exports, and API outputs to ensure consistency moving forward.
Key Benefits
- Improved data stability: Eliminates the volatility and inaccuracies caused by Google’s deeper result limits.
- Streamlined insights: Focuses reporting on the ranking range that contributes real visibility and traffic.
- Future-ready foundation: Ensures Rank Tracker remains stable and sustainable as Google evolves.

Why We’re Focusing on the Top 30
In today’s search landscape, nearly all measurable visibility happens within the first 30 results:
- Page 1: Where most user clicks and competition occur
- Page 2: Ideal for identifying rising competitors and optimization opportunities
- Page 3: Where new and emerging keywords begin gaining traction
Beyond the top 30, rankings contribute minimal traffic and fluctuate frequently. By focusing on this range, Rank Tracker ensures your data reflects real performance, reliable trends, and actionable insights.
Historical Data and Reporting
All historical Rank Tracker data has been updated to align with the new top-30 methodology. You may notice changes in historical averages or ranking distributions – this is expected and ensures consistent comparisons over time.
We’re excited about how this update enhances the Rank Tracker experience and delivers more stable, reliable insights for all users.
To ensure everyone is aware of the change, all customers will receive communication via in-platform notifications.
