Membership Development is a function of recruiting new members as well as retaining existing members. This is accomplished by ensuring your members are receiving the “value” they expect from being an IEEE member. “Value” can have many different meanings, as our membership encompasses a vast array of technical disciplines, nationalities, and most importantly, unique personalities. To best deliver the “value” members expect, each local Section has to understand what their members are interested in and then attempt to deliver on those interests whether it be simply directing the member to the Benefits Finder or working with members on projects like STEM, community involvement etc. As you can imagine, “Membership Development” is so much more than recruiting members. It is an investment to cultivate the individual member by providing a world-class experience that makes engineers WANT to be involved with IEEE.
