Antibiotic Stewardship refers to coordinated efforts designed to measure and improve antibiotic use. In layman’s terms its shepherding antibiotics to ensure they retain their purpose. Antibiotic Stewardship Programs are usually set up and run by ID physician or Pharmacy specialists. Unfortunately there is a dwindling number of these specialists and they face an ever increasing need for their expertise and expansion of their responsibilities.
