“And if all the trees on earth were pens and the seas (were ink), with seven more seas added to them, the words of Allah would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.” (Luqman, 27) All praise is due to the Creator whose words are endless... Whenever I read this verse, as someone who happens to be engaged in writing and drawing, I feel my back bend in humility. What majesty is this, that if the seven seas were poured into His pen, still it would not suffice—the seas would run dry, yet His Word would never end. What grandeur is this, that if all the trees of the earth became pens and kept writing, writing, writing, until every tree was consumed and gone, still His Word would continue... A verse that overwhelms the strength of writers, poets, orators—in short, of all whose craft is words, is it not so? Indeed, almost everything created in the universe is itself a word of Allah, born of His command “Be”—and so it is, everything, absolutely everything... May the Lord let the truth of His Words descend into our hearts.
