Description Starting with the Raw Material The leathers sourced by Caulaincourt come mostly from European bulls, in majority French. Others are sourced from Pakistan, New Zealand and Argentina. Onto the tanneries Caulaincourt's tanneries are located in France, Italy, and the U.K., and are among the most exceptional tanneries in the world. In fact, one of the tanneries is owned by Hermès. Only the most premium hides are selected, and the finest parts of the hides used on the final product. Manufactured by expert artisans The leathers are then sent to Caulaincourt's workshops, which are located in France, U.K., Spain, and Italy. Each workshop is an expert in its respective field. If it's a dress shoe, it's generally made in France. If it's a boot, it's generally made in the U.K. If it's a loafer, it's generally made in Spain. If it's a sneaker, it's generally made in Italy. Same goes for the construction - depending on the type of shoe, the adequate construction will be used, whether that's goodyear welt, blake welt, Norwegian welt, or glued soles. On many of Caulaincourt's shoes, a beautiful hand patina is applied by skilled artisans in Paris.
