A 'new' image from my archives, never shared before. This was taken in the late winter in 2018, after a fall of snow. As the sun was getting low in the sky, the ice crystals high in the troposphere were refracting the sunlight, forming a halo around the sun. I positioned myself so that the sun was behind Cairn T and this was the result!Cairn T is the largest of the Neolithic chambered cairns or passage-tombs on Slieve na Calliagh (Carnbane East), Oldcastle, County Meath, Ireland. Its passage and chamber are aligned so that the sunrise at the time of the equinoxes shines into the interior, illuminating a panel of megalithic art on the back wall of the end recess.
