Last year, I went to the farmer's market here in Dubuque, Iowa. I decided to try my hand at growing garlic. Twenty years ago, I tried and failed. This time the stakes were a bit higher. I was going to show my son how to do it.  FUN! So we planted our bulbs in the Fall, then winter came and BANG! They started to grow. My little helper worked hard to help me fence the garlic off. He cut the scapes off for me and we later made garlic scape pesto.  Talk about a HIT! Garlic Scape Pesto is the most amazing thing you will ever eat!  Back to our journey, together we read up on how to harvest the garlic and we decided tonight was the night for half of our garlic plants. We harvested them and will now proceed to drying them. I must confess that I was worried about failing this project. Our family LOVES garlic.
