In collaboration with GoDaddy, I created this bow tie to represent what Black History Month means to me. We will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the Tapestry Project which is an initiative that seeks to accelerate black business development.Black History has been a part of my story since I was born. I’m named after Marcus Mosiah Garvey, who was also a black entrepreneur and a civil rights leader. Like him, I started with a dream and have accomplished so much more. When I think about Black History, I imagine a world full of unlimited creativity, and that’s why I decided the color yellow would be perfect to use for the Sankofa bird in this specific design. This African symbol represents the past serving as a guide for planning the future. I believe learning from the past can help us ensure a better future. I chose rust-red as the main color because it’s one of my favorites, but it’s also a color of passion, symbolizing confidence and desire for greatness. I added a bit of green to represent growth - both as a person and as a company.To me, Black History is when your passion creates greatness and you share it with the world, something I have done for almost 10 years now and will continue to do. For me, this bow tie represents Black History but it also represents my Black Future.
