Coventry is a city which we feel is often overlooked as a place to visit – it was the UK’s City of Culture for 2021/22 and is a great place to head to for young and old alike. We should start by quickly establishing where Coventry actually is – the city is in the West Midlands, on the River Sherbourne. The city is about 85 miles to the North-West of London, and about 20 miles to the East of Birmingham. Let’s now look at the top things to see and do in Coventry: Coventry Cathedral Generally considered to be one of the most iconic buildings in the UK, Coventry Cathedral attracts visitors every year from across the country and beyond, and is a must-visit attraction during your time in the city as far as we’re concerned. The current site combines the ruins of the old cathedral which was destroyed by a bombing during the Second World War, and the new cathedral which was built after the first was destroyed – both are magnificent and impressive for different reasons. The visitor centre and Blitz Museum both do a good job of outlining the history of the cathedrals, but a tour guide is recommended. It’s easy to get to also – you’ll find the cathedral only 100m from the bus stop and 300m from the multi-story vehicle leave at Salt Lane CV1 2GY. When by walking, set out toward Cuckoo Lane for the best entry into the Ruin.
