Bangladesh Parliament (Jatiyo Sangshad) is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current Bangladesh Parliament contains 350 seats; 300 Members are elected by direct polls in their respective constituencies Whoever wins the most votes, regardless of turnout or proportion, wins the election. Members are elected for a term of 5 years. There are 50 seats reserved for women who were elected by the directly elected Members. The entire Parliament dissolves 5 years after the swear-in. Members can be re-elected indefinitely. The leader of the party holding the majority of seats becomes the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the head of the government. The President of Bangladesh, the ceremonial head of state, is chosen by Parliament. The parliament is housed in the Jatiyo Sangshad Bhaban designed by the American architect, Louis Kahn.
