Royal Cider is a fortified cider. After a spontaneous wild ferment of a blend of cider apple juice from the harvest of 2023, the resulting dry cider was matured for 2 months before 20% was lovingly distilled in a column still by Shaun Ward, master distiller at Ludlow Distillery. The resulting spirit was then added back to the remaining 80% of fermented cider and finished in rum barrels for 12 months. The resulting liquid is a gloriously deep burnished red brown, like the coat of Hereford cattle and the taste is that of an off dry fruity sherry (maybe port) but clearly the apple rather than the grape is the fruit. Ripe apple, orchard floor, rich spice and time, all gloriously come together to make this a superb drink to finish your Thanksgiving or Christmas with. Cheers. This is a single bottle case purchase and can not be added to a mixed case.
