The difference between the "Pro" and the SHP LS Next block are the metallurgy and standard main studs instead of bolts. The Pro has a higher nickel content for 30% higher tensile strength so it can handle more power. SHP Line Features - Full side skirts to accommodate OE oil pans - Accepts LS style Oil filters - Retains all factory bolt hole locations LS Next Features Retains all of the LS Next designs features not found in competing blocks including but not limited to: - Longer cylinder sleeves, - Priority main oiling - 4 bolt splayed main saddle structural This 427 cubic inch short block come from its 4.125" bore and the 4.00" stroke of its Callies' center counterweighted Magnum crank. The center counterweighted Magnum crank has a 4.000" stroke and is made from 4340 Timken alloy. The center counterweights are a major upgrade as they increase the cranks stiffness by about 25% while reducing harmonics. The net result is less stress on the main bearings and longer engine life. The Dyers NH H-Beam connecting rods have a unique double-banded cap for an ultimate strength to weight ratio. They are manufactured from 300M steel alloy which is 20% stronger than 4340 steel alloy.
