They have a diagonal slits in the upper corners for a necklace, two x marks for earrings and a slot for a ring. The outer layer is a nice slightly textured black cardboard adding subtle appeal. I got the suggested white inserts not only to make the entire packaging recyclable, but also to better accommodate ear hook type earrings. I placed an order March 6th and it arrived March 8th. It was so well packed, I'm so pleased. The only thing I would suggest is better communication from shipping company to customer lol, it's lucky I was home when it was brought to m
