A fabulous quality, 19th century, sycamore wedding breadboard, with a beautifully carved border. This is carved with “Long Life and Happiness” and it dates from c.1870. The remainder of the border is carved with wedding bells, a lucky horseshoe, berries and leaves and it would have been given as a wedding gift. It also has a carved pie crust rim. The carving has wonderful detail, and good depth, and is still in exceptional condition. There are knife marks to the face of the board, from use, but it is quite obvious that this board has been very well looked after and only used for special occasions, as it is in excellent condition. The wood has a lovely, pale honey coloured patina.Dimensions: Diameter 30cm. Depth 2cm.Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
