we affect everything and everyone around us, and in turn, everything and everyone around us affects us, too. never underestimate the impact your energy can have and how much love you have to share with the world.  the other day, i was saying goodbye to a couple friends in downtown tucson. we are medicine family and our bonds are tight. we hugged goodbye on the busy street corner, long, lingering hugs which lasted a minute or longer. i wasn’t counting. the world around me ceased to exist. i was wrapped up in love for my brothers and sisters and only they existed in that moment. i had just voiced, for the first time, that i forgave my ex husband for what he had done to me and the children, and, for the first time, i believed it. my friends were ecstatic for me. they knew the value of forgiveness, and also how hard that had been for me. i was fuelling up for the next leg of my journey, not sure when i would see them in the physical realm again. i felt so incredibly loved.  after we said goodbye, i turned and crossed the street. on the corner was a small barbecue street cart, operated by one man who called me over. there was an urgency to his energy. “would you like to try some of this food, miss? i’ll give you some for free. please try it, i made it myself.” i had just eaten a huge meal with my friends that i hadn’t even been able to finish. i wasn’t hungry, but there was such urgency in his voice. he needed to connect with me in some way, and to be honest, i was in no rush. thinking that sales had been slow and maybe he needed some validation about his skills, i stopped. this man wasn’t hitting on me. he needed to talk. he handed me a forkful of the most delicious shredded beef i’ve had in a long time. as soon as i had eaten it, he opened up. “i called you over because of that hug,” he said. “i’ve never seen anything like it. i could feel it from here. you must really love those people.” he stopped for a moment and reflected on what he had just said
