KATWARN übermittelt im Auftrag von Behörden und Sicherheitsorganisationen Gefahrenwarnungen, Handlungsempfehlungen und Informationen in Deutschland an betroffenen Bürger. KATWARN ist auch Multiplikator für Warnungen des modularen Warnsystems des Bundes (MoWaS / NINA-App). Die KATWARN-App wird von der CombiRisk Risk-Management GmbH zur Verfügung gestellt. Über den Inhalt, Zeitpunkt und Umfang der Meldungen entscheiden allein die autorisierte Behörden und Sicherheitsorganisationen, die KATWARN nutzen, nicht die CombiRisk. Da die Verantwortung für Warnungen in Deutschland je nach Gefahrensituation auf verschiedene Einrichtungen verteilt ist, kann sich die Nutzung von KATWARN regional unterscheiden. Bitte informieren Sie sich bei Ihrem Landkreis oder Ihrer Stadt zu den lokal genutzten Systemen. KATWARN gewährleistet ortsbasierte Benachrichtigungen über Gefahrenmeldungen, wie Großbrände oder Extremwetter, und bietet dabei die Möglichkeit, sich immer für den aktuellen Standort und zusätzlich für sieben weitere, frei wählbare Orte informieren zu lassen. Diese Auswahl kann jeder Zeit aufgehoben, angepasst und bei Bedarf ausgeschaltet werden. Die App verfügt über folgende Funktionen: • aktive Benachrichtigung (Push-Meldungen) über Gefahren für bis zu acht Orte: neben dem aktuellen Standort (=“Schutzengel“) sieben frei wählbare Orte • postleitzahlgenaue Warnungen für die gewählten Orte mit Warntexten und farbbasierter Klassifikation der Warnstufe • kontinuierliche, anonymisierte Aktualisierung der Ortsinformationen, so dass manuell keine weiteren Eingaben zum Standort nötig sind • sofortige Benachrichtigung bei Betreten eines aktuellen Gefahrenbereichs • kostenlose Themenabonnements (z. B. für Lebensmittelrückrufe) über die KATWARN-Homepage • energieeffizienten Ortung über Basisstationen und WLAN-Zugangspunkte (und nicht über GPS), wird der Akku nur geringfügig belaste • Feedback-Funktion für Rückmeldungen an den App-Dienstleister Für den Empfang von Warnungen und Informationen wird eine funktionierende Datenverbindung (WLAN oder Mobilfunk) benötigt.
