Die Riede ist von schluffig-tonigen Ablagerungen des Pannoniums, sowie teilweise von Lössschichten bedeckt. Tonige Ablagerungen sind in Carnuntum eher selten. Die Böden sind tiefgründig und sehr kalkhaltig. Die Weine dieser Lage sind von Kernigkeit, frischer Säure und straffer Struktur geprägt.Tasting notes from Jancis Robinson: Mid cherry red. Aromatic but also slightly stemmy dark-red fruit, more blackberry than blackcurrant. Smells fragrant and generous and just a little oaky. Very fine tannin texture, adding freshness. Firm, youthfully chewy but great purity of fruit and intention. Lively, beautifully balanced between fruit and texture.
