Depuis 1658, les Missions Etrangères de Paris ont contribué à l'évangélisation de nombreux pays d'Asie : la Thaïlande, le Vietnam, la Chine, le Cambodge, l'Inde, le Laos, le Japon, la Corée, la Malaisie, Singapour, la Birmanie... Au XXe siècle, 23 missionnaires ont offert leur vie en martyre et sont devenus saints. Aujourd'hui, les MEP comptent 155 prêtres dans 13 pays et elles continuent de prendre part à l'annonce de la Bonne Nouvelle, en envoyant en Asie et dans l'océan Indien des prêtres missionnaires à vie. Ces prêtres travaillent également à la création de nouvelles communautés chrétiennes ou de groupes de foi, à la formation des prêtres locaux, à des œuvres caritatives dans l'éducation ou la santé, ils sont auprès de minorités ethniques ou de migrants, ils s'impliquent dans le dialogue interreligieux ou sont au service des communautés catholiques francophones d'Asie.
