A Gibson-made Mastertone Special from circa 1939. These lap steels were produced (by Gibson) between 1939 and 1941. This 6-string lap steel is made from a solid piece of maple and is finished with a beautiful Crinkle Brown finish. A rather special finish that you don't often see. Several tuning peg heads appear to have been replaced, and the volume/tone knobs as well possibly. Functionally, the lap steel plays great and all electronics function without issues. Included is the original case and a slide as shown in the photos. The fretboard is decorated with ornamental position markers and on the headstock we find the characteristic silkscreen Mastertone logo.
