This exceptional example of traditional coffee cultivation in Indonesia is sourced from the Kuala Bengi cooperative which is located on the northwestern tip of Sumatra. This offering comprises coffees from multiple family farms in the villages of Atu Lintang, Suika Jadi, Suka Ramai, and Bintang. These farmers all practice traditional agriculture and a type of processing unique to Indonesia known as Giling Basah. Due to the humid climate, the final parchment layer is removed while the coffee is still relatively wet (as opposed to other parts of the world where coffee is left to dry almost completely). This process tends to yield flavor profiles which are fuller bodied, lower acidity, and slightly earthy. This coffee, while showing some classic characteristics of the region, still produces a bright and clean cup.
