Bulimia nervosa is one of several eating disorders characterized by loss of control over normal eating patterns. While no two cases have the same exact spectrum of features, most can be summarily characterized by repeated episodes of excessive food consumption – or binge eating – followed by various purge behaviors carried out to counteract the effects of increased caloric intake.
