Cette étude de la langue orale informelle, qui s’appuie sur des données de conversations et exploite des outils de textométrie, procède, d’une part, à une comparaison statistique des fréquences du démonstratif adnominal défini en français et en tchèque. D’autre part, elle opte pour une analyse sémantico-référentielle des trois phénomènes suivants : (i) le fonctionnement du démonstratif des deux langues dans les différents types de deixis, (ii) les singularités des emplois « émotionnels » du démonstratif et (iii) la grammaticalisation en cours du démonstratif tchèque TEN en article défini. C’est à ce dernier phénomène qu’une attention toute particulière est accordée. L’état de grammaticalisation de TEN est évalué dans le cadre théorique développé par S. Löbner et appelé « Concept Types and Determination Theory ». L’ensemble des analyses s’inscrit dans une approche contrastive, sous-tendue par des interrogations qui relèvent de la typologie linguistique.
