84%الإمام محمد بن عبد الوهاب (1703م - 1792م) هو محمد بن عبد الوهاب بن سليمان التميمي، عالم دين ومصلح إسلامي من نجد في شبه الجزيرة العربية. وُلد في العيينة (قرب الرياض اليوم)، ودرس العلوم الشرعية منذ صغره، ثم سافر إلى مكة والمدينة والبصرة لتلقي العلم، وتأثر بالمنهج السلفي. أفكاره ودعوته: ركز الإمام محمد بن عبد الوهاب على محاربة مظاهر الشرك والخرافات والبدع، ودعا إلى العودة إلى “التوحيد الخالص” واتباع الكتاب والسنة بفهم السلف الصالح. أشهر مؤلفاته: كتاب التوحيد. تحالفه مع آل سعود: أهم مرحلة في دعوته كانت تحالفه مع الأمير محمد بن سعود، مؤسس الدولة السعودية الأولى. هذا التحالف بين الدين والسلطة أسّس لدولة قوية كان هدفها تطبيق دعوة التوحيد وبسط الأمن. أثره: أثارت دعوته جدلاً واسعًا، بين مؤيدين رأوا فيها عودة إلى الإسلام النقي، ومعارضين اعتبروها متشددة. لكن لا شك أن تأثيره الفكري والديني كان كبيرًا في شبه الجزيرة العربية، ولا يزال حاضرًا حتى اليوم في الفكر الديني السعودي.
