As an Assistant Professor at Emory University's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, she leads the testing of a wearable biopatch that collects physiological data to help AI predict heat-related illness risks. She also conducted the first field-based intervention study on reducing core body temperature using real-time biomonitoring among U.S. farmworkers. Dr. Chicas' research is shaped by her personal experiences and ongoing insights from the communities she serves, ensuring that her findings are shared back with them.
