The category for this webinar is Social Emotional. Webinar Description:Anxiety is often a part of the autistic profile.  Anxiety is also the most contagious of all emotions, and anxiety is personal.  Because of these issues, it is essential that all educators, when faced with troublesome, disturbing, or confusing behavior have an objective planning system on hand.The anxiety curve, as introduced by Buron and Curtis, in 2003, provides just such a system.  This webinar will discuss the use of the anxiety curve to both address emotional regulation with students, and as a tool for educational planning.  Kari will connect the curve to the Incredible 5-Point Scale; and illustrate how it relates to other common teaching strategies. Learner Objectives:After attending this webinar, learners will:Be able to map the anxiety levels of at least one student.Become familiar with the anxiety curve as an educational teaming tool.Be able to identify at least 3 physical signs of anxiety.Be able to identify at least 2 calming strategies that reduce their own anxiety. Presenter Information:Kari taught in the K-12 MN public school system with students on the autism spectrum for 30+ years, is a Past President of the Autism Society of MN, and was a founding member of the MN Autism Project.  She developed an Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate program for educators at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, and is on the Advisory Board for the Autism Society of Trinidad and Tobago, Life College
