Otkrio ju je barun Eugen von Ransonet 1884. i otada je otvorena za javnost. U špilju se ulazi malim čamcem kroz uski, 1.5 m visok i 2.4 m širok prolaz. Sunčeva svjetlost prodire kroz podmorski otvor, reflektira se i daje prekrasan modrosrebrenkasti sjaj. Ovisno o godišnjem dobu, najbolje vrijeme za posjet špilji je između 10 i 14 sati. Godišnje špilju posjeti oko 50 000 posjetitelja.
