In addition, updates were made to language and organization for purposes of clarity and to conform to the standard policy format. Specific changes include the following: Updated title, to be more inclusive. Replaced references to mother with employee, to be more inclusive. Replaced references to nursing with lactating, to be more inclusive. Added language to encourage access to a sink in lactation/wellness rooms. Clarified that employees who work remotely must be free from observation. Added the word "Wellness" to Lacation Room, to be more inclusive. Clarified definition for Lactation/Wellness Room to make clear that a bathroom cannot serve as a lactation room. Added a definition for "Non-Exempt Employee." Updated requirements/procedures for the break time that must be afforded to employees to express milk. Updated the process regarding required compensation and extensions. Added an Assistance and Enforcement process for to employees who believe that they have not been provided sufficient access to facilities or break time as set forth in this policy. Reason Or Need For Policy / Summary Of Changes Made To Existing Policy: On December 29, 2022, President Biden signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 into law. The law includes the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act ("PUMP Act"), which created more requirements for accommodating lactating employees, including the provision of reasonable break periods for expressing milk for a year after the child's birt
