99%How to Write a Letter to YVYNYL For many years now, people just like you have been writing to me with heartfelt letters about how and why music helps them through trauma and tribulation. Call it therapy. Call it medicine. In my life, music as always helped me feel stronger, wiser and more purposeful. Your personal lives intersect and inspire mine, and are a large reason why I publish them here; to share your energy with mine and become part of the fabric of the people who visit YVYNYL. Despite the way the world seems to work - wrought with boiling steam and anguish - I know your experience of making music has taken a pound or two of sweat. People will actually read your story here, charge you up, open your creativity. Or maybe you just need someone to validate your art, so tell them publicly, “yes, my music means something to me.” I read every word of a personally written message. Go ahead. Get into your lazy chair, heat up a cup of tea, and reach into whatever is in your heart and mind and hit send. That simple. Details email: hi@yvynyl.com // Subject: Letter to YVYNYL 500 to 1500 words Go easy on the PR plugs Include a piece of related visual art and a pic of yourself Need some? Read more here. Looking for inspiration? Read some of the recent ones I’ve posted, or just send me an email and ask me for some suggestions. I’m happy to help with your concept, style, or ideas. Here’s a few starting thoughts: What hurts? Why did you write this song? Where were you when you wrote it? When did you start working on this project? How do you use music as medicine? Please note: I do get a lot of these and unfortunately I can’t publish every single one. I will, however, always respond to you personally. Thank you! Love and gratitude, Mark*

99%Sly told Dick Cavett “Counterpoint is the key,” and he nailed it right here on this single. The uptick of angel dust smoke and its accompanying dark updraft of paranoia combined into the double-sided hit that was “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” / “Everybody Is A Star” and there it remains. Neither song appeared … Read more
