במסגרת יוזמת השותפות הליברלית הבין-לאומית של מכון מיתווים, נערך פאנל מומחים העוסק במאבק המוצלח של החברה האזרחית הצ'כית בנסיגה הדמוקרטית בתחומה. מתוך ניתוח פעילותה הענפה, עולות מספר תובנות חשובות עבור גיבוש המחנה הליברלי בארץ וקידום יעדיו. תהליכי הנסיגה הדמוקרטית בצ'כיה – בניגוד להונגריה ופולין, הדמוקרטיה הצ'כית נוסדה מתוך התפתחות של מעמד ביניים משכיל ורחב היקפים, בעל מאפיינים חילוניים ותעשייתיים. עבור החברה הצ'כית, המסורת הדמוקרטית היא חלק בלתי נפרד מזהותה. – בשנת 2017 ,נבחר המיליארדר הצ'כי, אנדריי באביש, לראשות הממשלה לאחר שהוביל קמפיין פופוליסטי, אנטי-מערכתי ומשסע. – במהלך כהונתו, באביש פעל לקידום האינטרסים הכלכליים שלו, תוך ניסיון להחלשת שומרי הסף של הדמוקרטיה, ובראשם החברה האזרחית והתקשורת הצ'כית. – עם זאת, החברה האזרחית והתקשורת הובילו לתנועת מחאה ציבורית אדירה, שאף עודדה קידום חקירה פלילית כנגד באביש בחשד למעילת כספים מהאיחוד האירופי לטובת עסקיו. ניסיונותיו של באביש לדיכוי הדמוקרטיה היו הססנים אל מול האקטיביזם של החברה האזרחית הצ'כית, ולאחר קדנציה אחת בלבד הממשלה בראשותו הוחלפה. המתכון להצלחה לפי המודל הצ'כי – הרחבת המאבק באזורי הפריפריה: יצירת תשתיות מחאה מעבר לערים המרכזיות, תוך חיבור ושיתוף פעולה עם מפלגות האופוזיציה. – תרגום המחאה בשטח לכוח פוליטי: הרכבת קולאציה רחבה של מפלגות ותנועות שונות בעלת מטרה אחת ויחידה: הגנה על הדמוקרטיה הליברלית. בסופו של דבר, ההצלחה באה לידי ביטוי באמצעות שינוי דפוסי הצבעה בקלפי, עבור מפלגות המייצגות את המחנה הליברלי. – איחוד מסרים: יש לפעול למען יצירת קונצנזוס רעיוני בתוך הקואליציה: מאבק מול פופוליזם א-ליברלי מפריד ומשסע דורש מסרים אחידים סביב עקרונות היסוד של הדמוקרטיה הליברלית. – הדגשת צדקת הדרך וכוחו המוסרי של המאבק הליברלי בפני
