72%O Brasil possui um ótimo índice de radiação solar, principalmente no Nordeste e é exatamente nesta região onde o maior número de pessoas não possui acesso à energia elétrica porque vivem em comunidades isoladas da rede de distribuição convencional. Energia Solar Fotovoltaica é a solução conveniente e efetiva para a carência de eletrificação dessas áreas. Neste trabalho é feito um breve histórico sobre a geração e utilização de energia elétrica nos diversos estados do Nordeste brasileiro. Um estudo sobre a tecnologia de células fotovoltáicas também é feito culminando com o dimensionamento de sistemas fotovoltáicos autônomos e híbridos. Considerações técnicas de operação destes sistemas também foram contempladas neste trabalho.
