The Saint Louis Zoo in St. Louis, Mo., teamed up with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Wildlife Trafficking Alliance (WTA) to host Toss the Tusk, an ivory surrendering event that encourages the public to join in efforts to save elephants from wildlife trafficking. On 11 August, the public brought any unwanted ivory, pelts, or other animal artifacts or trinkets made from endangered animal parts to the Zoo for the safekeeping of federal law enforcement.
