Each player receives two sets of cards: the Hand, played first, and the Foot, which is picked up once the Hand is finished. To go out, players must finish their Hand, play the Foot, and complete one clean and one dirty Canasta. Players draw two cards per turn. Only melds (sets of the same rank) may be laid down; runs are not allowed. To pick up the discard pile, players must hold two cards of the same rank as the top discard, and only the top 7 cards are taken.
