PARAGLIDING START app analytics for February 2

The Europe launch sites from the DHV (German Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association) database are displayed linked with weather reports and forecasts that are as up-to-date as possible. At a glance, the paraglider pilot can see the launch conditions of all launch sites in the region. If there is a high density of launch sites within a region, they are displayed together; no launch site can be overlooked, all potential launch opportunities are immediately recorded. Without having to look at the details, everyone can already include their own tolerance range when viewing the map. The most important weather parameters wind speed, wind direction, cloud cover and precipitation are graphically displayed for the launch sites on the map. These and other weather data can be displayed separately in graphs, unaltered, as provided by the various weather services. The data of the weather services are displayed simultaneously in the graphs and can thus be compared easily and quickly. At small scale, the large-scale weather situation is displayed, and at medium scale, the air flow. At large scale, wind, cloud cover and precipitation can be displayed for the individual calculated points for different heights. With a click within the forecast area, the forecasts for these coordinates are displayed. The app is a counterpart to the web page https://ParaglidingStart.info, which has been developed and continuously expanded since 2015. The website is optimised for use on a PC and, despite much optimisation, is not so easy to use on a smartphone. The app and the website are intended to help pilots as simply and quickly as possible. There are also many links to other web pages with a different presentation and further information. The origin of the data is as transparent as possible. To understand this program, the user manual on the web page is very helpful. Like the website, this app stores as much data as possible locally at the user in order to request as little data as possible from the server. Outdated data and data that has not been used for a long time is automatically deleted. Of course, Paragliding Start does not track any data and does not send any data to the server that is not necessary for its function. Paragliding Start is privately developed and operated and is not for profit. Enhancements are more likely in the winter months. Suggestions, help, e.g. translations into other languages and error messages are always welcome in a friendly way. I will continue to maintain this programme as long as there is no comparable or better programme and as long as I enjoy it. There is no guarantee for the operation, the accessibility, the actuality and the correctness of the data.
