本劇敘述民初時代國家動盪不安，軍閥割據導致民不聊生。相傳滿清皇族端親王藏匿了一大批財寶，後因得罪慈禧被滿門抄斬，僅留幼女碧雲格格隨一戲班琴師逃走。十五年後，袁世凱部下督軍、日本特務、革命黨人等各方勢力紛紛展開追踪意欲尋寶，一場正義和邪惡的殊死搏鬥開始。南方政府特務茹（ 周慧敏飾）潛入戲班追查袁世凱的藏寶圖下落，卻意外失憶，幸得班主沈鐵蘭（ 羅樂林飾）相救，並納入門下， 改名為“沈菊仙”，但師姐菊笙（ 梁佩玲飾）、菊秋（ 許秋怡飾）對菊仙存心成見，加上笙、菊仙二人芳心同係於富家少爺浩光（ 陳錦鴻飾）身上，師姐妹幾乎反目。時京劇戲班以男班為正宗，菊仙得當時得令的花旦苓（ 羅文飾 ）及鳴（ 蓋鳴暉飾 ）提攜，激發眾師姐妹的鬥志，令女京戲班得以吐氣揚眉。此際，菊仙逐漸恢復記憶，驚覺自己身懷藏寶圖秘密，成為江湖中人追殺目標！
