For 1956, Oldsmobile's styling formula expanded upon the principles laid down in the last major redesign of 1954, including a chic wraparound windshield and jet aircraft-inspired design cues. Offering more standard features than most competing marques, the 88 included such premium items as armrests, bumper guards, a lined trunk, rotary door latches, dual horns, a cigarette lighter, turn signals, rubber floor mats, aluminum door sill plates, and sun visors.
