The diamonds are silver set and backed in 18 karat gold, the earring backs for the posts are platinum. The diamonds are all old European cuts, the center stone on each is approximately .5 carats and all told the earrings add up to about 1.8 carats total diamond weight. They are unmarked but have been acid tested. These fantastic diamond drops were most certainly made up from something else, maybe drops on a necklace, or part of different pair of earrings or even a brooch, they were re-made at some point into these totally wearable and more-interesting than your basic stud earrings. When they were converted they were plated in white gold.
