On June 18, 2025, the United States Food and Drug Administration approved Yeztugo (Lenacapavir), an antiretroviral medication for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention. However, for many people living in sub-Saharan Africa, healthcare access is nonexistent, and residents experience a higher HIV infection rate and a higher acquired immunodeficiency syndrome mortality rate, compared to people living in the USA. On September 4, 2025, the United States Department of State announced that it would facilitate extended access to the medicament lenacapavir for high HIV prevalence countries. However, more change is needed. More entities are required to help.

Hypertension is among the most important modifiable risk factors contributing to cardiovascular disease. Nowadays, poor adherence to the treatment of chronic diseases such as hypertension is still a global problem. Against this background, the study assessed the effectiveness of a home-based educational program on treatment adherence among individuals with hypertension. It was conducted as a randomized controlled trial using a pretest–posttest design with a parallel control arm. A total of 72 hypertensive patients attending comprehensive health service centers in Qaen County, Iran, were recruited through convenience sampling based on the eligibility criteria and then allocated to the intervention or control arm using a random-number table. Treatment adherence was assessed in both groups before and after the training using the Treatment Adherence Perception Questionnaire (TAPQ). The mean age was 64.10 years (standard deviation [SD]=15.04) in the intervention group and 63.86 years (SD=13.45) in the control group (P<0.05). Before the intervention, the mean total treatment-adherence score did not differ significantly between the intervention and control groups (P=0.977). After training, however, a significant between-group difference was observed (P=0.002). In the multiple linear regression analysis, treatment adherence was significantly associated with insurance type and higher monthly income (P<0.05). Home care training interventions can increase treatment adherence and improve its internal components. Therefore, teaching these behaviors can be a low-cost, effective way to improve the health of patients with high blood pressure.
