Those attempting Mera Peak should be proficient with ice axe, crampons and have basic alpine mountaineering skills. There are several approaches to Mera, some allow time for all important acclimatisation, some do not! A slow approach, with ample time for acclimatisation is the key to Mera Peak success. In 2022 the success rate on Mera Peak was only just above 50%; mostly due to lack of fitness and acclimatization. If you are well prepared and looking for a truly challenging Himalayan experience, Mera Peak is perfect. An ascent of Mera Peak can be done in Spring or Autumn when the weather is generally settled.
