Advance Your Sewing Skills! Continue your sewing journey with our 4 Ribbon Box Style Ribbon Skirt Class, a Level 2 workshop designed for those who have a basic understanding of sewing and are ready to build on their skills. This 5-hour class will help you create a box style ribbon skirt — a simple skirt constructed from one piece of rectangular fabric and four colours of ribbon. You’ll create your very own traditional ribbon skirt, all while refining your machine sewing skills. Participants who aren't able to finish their skirts during the class may elect to take their skirts home to finish, or return to the 49 Dzine Academy workspace during scheduled "maker hours" to finish. Box Style skirts are best for individuals who prefer more room in the hip area when seated. As such, they have a lot of gathering in the hip area. Sewing machines, thread and all materials will be provided, and you will be able to pick from our selection of fabric and ribbon.  In this class, you will learn: How to cut and measure fabric How to thread a sewing machine and load a bobbin How to use straight and zig zag stitches How to create a basic waistband How to hem a garment By the end of this session, you’ll have completed a ribbon skirt and developed the confidence to explore more difficult sewing projects on your own. Included in this class: 2 yards of cotton fabric, 4 ribbons, thread, elastic.Participants will have the option to purchase heat transfers or additional ribbon in their preferred colors if they wish.
