We are building more new homes and improved open spaces through an Australian-first social housing initiative, known as the Ground Lease Model (GLM) program. Under this program, Homes Victoria leases land to a project partner to finance, design, build, operate and maintain new housing on site for 40 years. After the 40 years, the land and all homes are returned to Homes Victoria to manage, which means there is no sale of public land. The GLM projects replace older-style social housing with homes that are modern, energy efficient and sustainable. They include a mix of housing types such as social, affordable and market rental homes, which help to increase rental supply. The developments are designed to complement local communities with high-quality indoor and outdoor spaces, including landscaped gardens and other features.
