Thereby one learns which stones were used, where they came from and and how they were transported. On a short excursion we encounter the most important types of rocks which are characteristic as building stones for the city of Basel: From the medieval buildings with sandstones and limestones from the surroundings up to the modern times with exotic Gneisses from India or China.
