IDENTIFY MUSHROOMS ANYWHERE Point your camera at a find in the woods, in a field, on a lawn or on a fallen log. The identifier covers the mushrooms people actually meet — chanterelle, porcini, morel, oyster mushroom, field mushroom, puffball, shaggy ink cap, honey fungus and hundreds more — and it flags the poisonous ones, including death cap, destroying angel, fly agaric, false morel, jack-o'-lantern and false chanterelle. HOW IT WORKS 1. Photograph the mushroom, or pick an image from your gallery. 2. The AI analyses the photo and proposes a possible species. 3. Read the name, the description and the edibility category. 4. Check similar species and read the safety warnings. For a more accurate result, photograph the whole mushroom in good light. Show the cap, its underside, the stem and the base of the stem. A single photo may not reveal every feature needed for identification — spore colour, smell and habitat all matter. SAFETY COMES FIRST The AI can be wrong, especially with young, old, damaged or similar-looking mushrooms, and deadly species can closely resemble edible ones. This is an educational aid, not an expert determination. Never eat a mushroom based on an AI identification alone. Always have the species confirmed by an experienced forager or checked against a reliable field guide before eating. When in doubt, throw it out. Identify mushrooms, save your finds and learn to recognise them more confidently.
