Dryve is a daily journal for someone stopping a substance or cutting down. It runs on your phone, and nothing you write leaves it.
Two ways to use it
Setup asks two questions and takes about twenty seconds. If you choose to stop, Today counts days: the current run, the total, and the longest. The total never resets, so logging a slip costs you nothing. If you choose to cut down, Today shows units against a weekly limit you set yourself, a six-week trend, and the days you had none. You can switch whenever you want, and everything you have logged comes with you.
Alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, gambling, or something else.
The daily practice
Five steps, one screen at a time: Relabel, Reattribute, Refocus, Revalue, Re-create. Every step has a prompt, so there is never a blank box, and they change as you log more. Each step shows what you wrote on it last time, which is usually the part that does the work. You can speak instead of typing, and the words become text on the phone.
A ten-second check-in
One drag of a slider, no typing, for the days you are not going to write.
SOS
SOS sits in the middle of the tab bar, one tap from anywhere, and opens on a breathing animation. From there you can call a helpline, send one message you wrote earlier to one person you chose while you were calm, start a fifteen-minute timer, or read the entries you pinned for this exact moment. Nothing is sent anywhere, and there are no ads on that screen.
This release carries hand-checked helpline numbers for Australia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, with their opening hours and an out-of-hours line where one exists. Everywhere else, and when a line is closed, your country's emergency number is stored on the phone and works with no signal.
Before you stop
Stopping alcohol or benzodiazepines suddenly, after heavy daily use, can be dangerous. If you pick one of those and choose to stop, Dryve asks four yes-or-no questions, once. If your answers point that way, it says plainly that your body may depend on it and asks you to talk to a doctor. It does not stop you carrying on. If you are cutting down and set a target that drops sharply, it says that too. And the SOS sheet carries a card for seizure, confusion, hallucinations, severe shaking or repeated vomiting: this is not a craving, call the emergency number.
Progress
Money not spent, pointed at something you name, and labelled an estimate because it is built from a figure you typed. Urges outlasted, and quiet badges for things that have already happened. A fifteen-minute timer for when an urge arrives, with a short list of things to do until it passes. Letters to your future self, sealed the day you write them and opened at a date you pick.
Export for a therapist
A PDF of the entries and dates you choose. A preview screen lists every entry first and you can leave any of them out. It is made on the phone and handed straight to the share sheet, and Dryve keeps no copy.
Home screen widget
Your day count or this week's figure, today's step, and SOS. Never your writing, never the substance. The numbers can be hidden.
What Dryve does not do
There is no account and no sign-up. No email, no name, no age, no contacts. No ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party code that talks to anyone. Your journal is kept in an encrypted database on the phone, and this version makes no network calls at all. Uninstalling takes it with it.
Dryve is not treatment and it is not medical advice. It does not diagnose anything, and it cannot tell you whether stopping is safe for you. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.
English, Greek, German and French.
